LIT ACRYLIC SIGN

THE BEGINNING

Recently, Holmans USA reached out to Deluxe for help with new signage for their office. One piece needed to match an existing display with an updated logo for Sophia’s Foundation for Autism. The other two were brand-new acrylic panels to be added in another location.

This sign started with a really nice coat of arms graphic that the client provided. They wanted lit acrylic signs to highlight a new boardroom. We installed them on the walls by the entrance doors. This is 1 of 3 signs we produced as part of this renovation project in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

PROCESS AND SPECS

We achieved this look by directly printing the artwork to the frosted side of the ¼ inch acrylic substrate. As a result, we kept the frosted aesthetic and allowed for a subtle floating/drop shadow effect. In addition to this technique, we can offer ‘subsurface printing’ or reverse printing the logo underneath the clear surface and we could substitute frosted acrylic for a different light-up material.

Firstly, we used a white background to get a warm white look. Next, to create a nice even warm light, we coated the back of the sign twice. Moreover, we installed a white sticker behind the sign, over the dark paint on the wall to help distribute the light evenly.
